Big D Trip

This weekend we went to Dallas for our good friend Wendy's wedding. We got there on Friday for the rehearsal dinner and it was so great to see everybody! Wendy's family, Kyle's family, and the Burris' have all grown up together camping and stuff so they're like family to us! Wendy and I were also roommates in college with her sister, Holly, so it was just so much fun to be with the whole gang! We had dinner at her house and then I played Wii for the first time in my life. It was a boxing game and I sucked! I couldn't see what was going on, I just punched and ducked all over the place hoping I was making contact at some point. =) It is a workout though!

Then Saturday we hung out at the hotel and I kept trying to put Keaton down for his nap (so the ring bearer would be in a good mood for the big event) but the nap just wasn't happening! Naps are almost impossible without a crib to confine him! He kept scooting off the bed and looking at us like we were crazy and he was just ready to play! So he didn't get his nap but of course fell asleep in the car on our way to the wedding. Once we got there we tried to wake him up so he could do his job but he just started crying and needless to say he didn't walk down the aisle. He actually just held onto his Daddy and was asleep throughout the whole ceremony! Then he slept in the bridal room during most of the reception. Later he woke to eat and do a little dancing! =) We just had a great time! Wendy looked beautiful and luckily didn't mind that she didn't have a ring bearer. He's still so young so I warned her when she asked him to do it that something could go wrong so she was prepared for any outcome.

Out for the night but still dressed to impress!

I just love weddings! Not only because of the free food, booze, dancing, and good company, but also because every wedding we go to I feel like it's almost a renewal of our vows. Just to hear those powerful words again and be in the presence of such a lifelong commitment brings back memories of my wedding. I just love seeing two people who are in love become one for the rest of their lives. I always leave feeling a little bit closer to my husband and it's as if I'm in the honeymoon stage all over again. =)

Tuesday 10

10 Things I've done since I left for The Lone Star State!

10. Watched a ton of movies while sitting in the backseat with Keaton- We switched between one of his movies (which of course I still love) and then one of my movies the whole way here. Let's see, we watched... Finding Nemo, Serendipity, The Little Mermaid, The Notebook, Cars, Wedding Crashers, some educational video with a cow, lamb, and dog, Talladega Nights, and then Finding Nemo again!!! Thank God for car DVD players! The 18 hour trip really wasn't that bad!! Normally we fly but Kyle had some hunting to do and wanted to be able to take coolers back filled with meat! =)

9. Celebrated my moms birthday!!! She turned 59 years young last week! =) We got together Friday night to celebrate! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!

8. Saw my aunt and cousins- I of course just LOVE my aunt and cousins but we don't really get to all get together as much as we used to growing up. We are close in age (one of my cousins and I are 18 hrs. apart!) and when we were little it seemed like we were always all getting together or spending the night. Now we're all grown up, getting married, and having babies so it doesn't happen as often. It was SO GREAT to hang out with them and get our kiddos together!

7. Ate Los Cucos- There is nothing like Texas Mexican food!! We hardly go out to eat in CO because every thing's so far away from our house so it was so nice to indulge in good Tex Mex food!! I LOVE their green sauce! =)

6. Hung out with my friends- while eating this delicious Mexican food I was in great company! Some of my girlfriends met up with me to eat and have margaritas and then we went to Bakers St. and ended up at Mos (of course!). We had a great time talking, drinking, and dancing! I miss them so much!!

5. Caught up with an old childhood friend- everyone knows that when you go out in Katy you're going to run into someone you know. At Bakers St. I ran into my old friend, Shelby, and it was so great to see her! We played little league softball together when we were about 6 and then stayed friends through part of High School but slowly drifted apart. I haven't seen her since then so it was great to catch up with her!

4. Went on walks- doesn't seem to exciting but I just love walking around the neighborhood I grew up in and looking at all the houses that I used to spend the night at and have so many memories in. It's funny because some of their families have moved to another neighborhood but I'll always think of those houses as "Kristel's house" or "Jackie's house". =) I also enjoyed the walks because in CO we live on a mountain so to go on a walk is basically like going on a hike and I just don't have the energy to do that everyday! I'm loving this flat, concrete ground!!

3. Went shopping!!! It feels so good to have everything right at your fingertips and not have to drive 30 min to Wal Mart, or an hour and 20 min to Target!!! I went to Kohls and got some Christmas shopping done and I plan on hitting up many more places! Katy Mills and Memorial City Mall here I come!! =)

2. Looked at a model home- OK so I haven't done this yet but I'm going this morning. I love looking at model homes even for fun but this house is a floor plan that I love and I'm interested in it for when we move back. I just want to go check it out in person and see how I really like it. We don't know for sure if we're going to build, we're going to look at ALL our options so this is just the first option I'm checking out. So I'm sure you're wondering if we're moving back now?? Not just yet...when we moved to CO the plan was that we'd be there for 2 years but now it's looking like we'll probably move back in the spring or summer so it would have been about a year and 1/2.

1. Just loved being with friends and family!!!! It's so nice to be able to do so much and see so many people I love! In CO we don't have a babysitter so Kyle and I don't really have date nights or go out with friends. It's so great to have both our families here to help out and I just love seeing our parents playing with Keaton. He just loves them and you know they are just in love with everything he does! We're just loving our time with loved ones! I was at my sisters house the other day and when I went to leave my nephew, Breyton, who's 5 grabbed my arm and said, "Are you going to the airport?" in this pathetic voice like he was about to cry and I told him no, that I was going to be here for 2 whole weeks! He started smiling and hugged me and yelled, "YIPEE! Keaton and Uncle Kyle too?? YES!! This is the best day of my life!!" It was so cute!!

A Few Things

It's amazing how fast your pregnancy goes by when you're not pregnant anymore. I would already be in my second trimester and going into my 15th week!! It's still so unbelievable that it happened. When you get pregnant you know it's a possibility but you just don't think it will happen to you. I'm doing great really, it's not like I sit everyday and dwell on the fact that we miscarried but some days I can't help but wish that my belly was growing like it would have been if this didn't happen. I didn't mention this before but when we went in for the Saturday ultrasound when we saw the heartbeat, the doctor kept telling me that he didn't think I was as far along as I thought because the baby was so small. I felt positive about the situation since we had seen the heartbeat but I think that's when I knew something might be off because I knew the day we conceived and I was 8 weeks. He kept saying I was probably just 6. So I think what they say is true, when somethings wrong with the baby and it's not developing right, God comes in and nature takes it's course. It's funny to me that we weren't even trying to get pregnant and it was literally ONE oopsie and taa daa...we were pregnant! It made us realize, especially after we lost the baby, that we were ready for another one and wanted to start trying again. Then when you're trying and you have MANY :) "oopsie's" you get NOTHING!!! So weird! I guess it's just a reminder that we're not in control and when God wants to bless us with another baby he will.

As far as Mr. Keaton, he's doing great!! The other day I turned around to see him making quite a mess with the salt shaker! You can see it upside down on the TV tray and salt was all over him and the floor! Crazy kid!

We got more snow this week and he has snow boots now so we enjoyed playing in it! I shoveled snow for the first time in my life too! It was kinda fun but I bet it will get old REALLY fast!

We leave for Houston tomorrow so pray we have a safe trip! Taa, Taa!!!! =)

Tuesday 10

10 Movies You Should See ...

OK I LOVE movies so my list could go on and on (I'm sure I'll post more some other Tuesday) but here's some of my favs in no particular order:

10. Just Like Heaven- its so cute and just makes me happy. I could watch it a thousand times!

9. Sex In The City-this movie was so much better than I thought it was going to be! I didn't even watch the show that much and still LOVED it! So don't feel like you'll be lost if you didn't keep up with the TV series! Such a great movie and it reminds you how wonderful your friendships are (not that I forget).

8. Definitely, Maybe- cute, cute movie!! Very creative how they tell the story and it keeps you guessing, I loved it!

7. Awake- great date movie because guys will like it too! REALLY good! I can't say too much and once you see it you'll know why.

6. Pearl Harbor- Classic that I'm sure you've all seen. I just watched it again last week and I had forgotten how much I loved it!

5. The Notebook- another one I'm sure you've all seen and if you haven't you're crazy! Such an amazing love story! I can't help but cry every time I see it!

4. The Wedding Date-this is another one that I could watch over and over and never get sick of it! It just makes you laugh and leaves you with a smile!

3. How To Loose A Guy In 10 Days- I love Kate Hudson and this movie is another funny, feel good movie. Can you tell I like those! =) Even though they may not admit it, once you get your man watching this he'll like it too!

2. Fracture- SO GOOD! It's very suspenseful and entertaining. Watch with your bf or hubby because they'll LOVE it too!!

1. The Holiday- I love this movie! Why... because it makes me feel good and smile of course! hehe! =) I also think it would be so fun to switch houses with somebody like they do!

Let It Snow!!!

Well, I told yall Tuesday that snow was just around the corner and I was right!! We got our first snow of the season on Wednesday! For Colorado it wasn't a lot, a good start though, but for a Texas girl it was heaven! If this happened in Houston, the schools would have been closed and everyone would have been outside playing and taking pictures! Keaton and I played in it for a while but his snowsuit and snow boots aren't in yet so we couldn't go too crazy or he'd get all wet. I'm so excited about all the snow, it's so pretty!

You can tell from the videos that he didn't really know what was going on. At first he wouldn't even step on it so I had to carry him into the yard! =) He'll get used to it and then I wont be able to get him back inside!

It's so funny that this small amount of snow is so great to me because look at the difference from our house so far this year and our house last year when we bought it in February! This is just the beginning! We've got a lot more snow to come!!! =)

This Year...

Tuesday 10

I'm following in Cara and Kim's footsteps, here's my Tuesday 10!!!!

10 things that have made me smile lately...

10. Gizmo- we don't have a fenced yard so Gizmo used to always run next door (which is about a football field away) and play with their dog and it was always such a hassle to walk my butt uphill to their house to bring her back. For the last week she hasn't done this, due to my heavy treat giving when she comes back! It makes it so much easier when I'm also chasing Keaton around, so I am thankful for her returns! =)

9. Jack- We don't know a whole lot of people here so it is so nice to see Keaton have a best friend! Him and Jack are 3 days apart and are just too funny to watch! I'm so glad that I met his mom, Laura, at the park! She is so great and is my best friend here, I don't know what I would do without them!!

8. New gluten free recipe- I found a DELICIOUS gluten free Mexican cornbread casserole that I'm in love with! I'm making it again tonight, even though we just had it last week but it's just soooo good!! (Lyndsay- I have tons of wheat free recipes you could use for your son! I couldn't figure out how to comment to you so give me your email or something and I can send you stuff I use!)

7. Voting- regardless who you're voting for today is a day to be proud that we have the right to vote!! I'm so excited/anxious/nervous about today!! God bless America!! This also means the 8, literally 8 political signs in my neighbors yard will finally be taken down, thank God!!!

6. Harry Potter- If you haven't read this series, you HAVE to!! I'm almost done with the last book and I just LOVE them all!! It's so hard to even put them down!

5. The library- OK so I've established I love to read but our library also has a great collection of movies that you can rent for free!!! I am a HUGE movie person so this is heaven to me! Recently I rented the movie below and I loved it! It was sad but I love history so it was interesting to me. You should watch it! =)

4. My new dress- I just bought a new dress for my friend Wendy's wedding and I can't wait to wear it!! Her wedding is the weekend before Thanksgiving so I have to wait a while but I just love it! Clothes make me so happy! =)

3. The weather- I've been saying it for a while but I swear this time...snow is right around the corner!! I can't wait!! We're supposed to get it this week so we'll see. I'm anxiously awaiting the beautiful views of white! I also can't wait to see Keaton dressed in all his snow gear! =)

2. Thanksgiving- We're leaving next Thursday for Katy and I can't wait!! I just love the holidays and we're staying there for a couple weeks so it will be so much fun and not so rushed! I can't wait to see the whole family and eat and eat and eat!!! Love it!

1. Kyle and Keaton of course!! These 2 boys are everything to me! Kyle is such a great hubby and I lean on him for so much! We have so much fun together and I just love him! Keaton of course is just the light of my life. I thank God everyday for him and can't imagine my life without him! Being a Mom is the number one thing that will always make me smile!

Halloween

My how Halloween has changed! It used to consist of us dressing up like this

and going to a party to hang out and drink with friends. Now it's trick-or-treating at 6 and in bed before 10!! I wouldn't trade it for the world! =) These last 2 Halloweens have been the best! Last year Keaton was only 7 months and still looked like such a baby! Such a cute lil' monkey!!
Fast forward to this year...Kyle and Keaton carved a pumpkin together and I attempted to roast the pumpkin seeds but ended up burning them...no surprise there!

Friday night we went to his best friend Jacks house for trick-or-treating! I've never seen a cuter dragon and lion!! The daddies took them house to house while us moms stayed to pass out candy. Kyle said the boys weren't sure what was going on but after the second house they figured it out and couldn't wait to get more candy!

Ahhh, after a nights hard work they're ready for a snack!!
